How to Store Beard Oil

California Beard Company - Beard Oil

So you’ve decided to finally get rid of beard itch by using beard oil to soften your beard. But how should you store beard oil so it doesn’t spoil?

We are a beard oil company that showed you how to use beard oil, how to use a beard comb, and how to trim your beard yourself. Now it’s time to teach you how to store your beard oil.

Firstly, it gets hot here in California. Real hot. One advantage to having a beard in hot weather is that it provides shelter from harmful UV rays.

For example, I’ve seen a heat scan image of a bearded dude’s face. Believe it or not, the skin temperature under the beard was lower.

We’ve always known it, but science has proven that beards are cool.

Ok funny man, get to the point. What is the best practice to store beard oil?

There are 3 things you want to avoid when you store your beard oil:

  1. Ultraviolet radiation exposure (aka sunlight)
  2. Extreme temperatures
  3. Oil contamination

1. Ultraviolet Radiation

To start, we package the beard oil in an amber glass bottle which filters out harmful UV rays. Fortunately for you and your beard this is something you don’t have to worry about. You should be careful with any beard oil company that uses regular transparent glass to store their products. The shelf life of the product is put at risk when UV rays are able to pass through the beard oil.

2. Extreme Temperatures

Secondly, beard oil should be stored in a cool, dark place. This will help extend its shelf life because it is not being exposed to too extreme of temperatures. Don’t leave it in the car on a summer day if you can help it. Store beard oil in a dark yet convenient place like your medicine cabinet.

3. Oil Contamination

Lastly, avoid contaminating the oil in the bottle by practicing a clean technique. Do not allow the glass dropper to touch your palm, fingers, hands, sink, counter, or table. Basically, the dropper should touch nothing but the oil in the bottle. That’s it.

For example, if the dropper touches your dirty palm, dirty sink, or dirty whatever, it will pick up germs and introduce them to the rest of the oil in your bottle. These germs may cause reactions with the oil that may cause it to spoil. Maintaining a sterile bottle of beard oil is super important.
